All About Mrs. Banach
Soon I will be getting to know all of your wonderful children, but I thought it would be fun for you to get to know me, too! I grew up in Prairie View, Illinois, and graduated from Stevenson High School- a close neighbor to Lake Forest! From a very young age, I dreamed of being a teacher. As a little girl, I would set up my stuffed animals and teach them from a small chalkboard! This passion is what sparked me to attend DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where I graduated from the school of Education in 2006. This same passion continued to push me to graduate from Concordia University with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I continue to grow as a teacher by taking courses over the summer. This summer I furthered my education in early literacy and our writing curriculum.
This is going to be my tenth year at Everett, my first as a first grade teacher! I am so excited to begin my journey with my new first graders! I feel so lucky to teach at Everett. Prior to this year, I spent 8 years as a 4th grade teacher and one year as a teaching assistant in 2nd grade. Lake Forest is such a warm and inviting community and it is a privilege to teach at such a wonderful school! Teaching is the perfect job for me. I look forward to working with your child academically, socially and emotionally. Nothing inspires me more than being a part of the child's growing and learning process.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I live in Volo, Illinois with my wonderful husband, Patrick, and my crazy dog, Kona. Together we enjoy watching the Bulls and Blackhawks, visiting local forest preserves and dog parks and spending time in the outdoors. I also try to spend as much time as I can with my 4 nieces and nephews who range in age from 10-20. Other hobbies of mine include: running, doing yoga, weight-lifting and Zumba (I have to keep my energy level up to match my students!), reading at the beach, volunteering, baking with my mom, going on adventures like kayaking and skydiving, etc.
I can't wait to get to know you all and can't wait for a wonderful year in 1st grade! Go Everett Eagles....Go Banach Bunch!!!!!!
